The first half of the year was saddened by the loss of the dam of the Valentine Litter, Tulia at 8 1/2. Then we lost Fionna, our first wolfhound, at age 10 1/2. Following that we had a relatively uneventful remainder of the year at the Hounds of Heaven, thank God !

All the other dogs and the humans remain well.
Paddy, Phille, and Myrna started their show careers. Paddy, in particular, did quite well, winning Best of Breed 5 times and Best of Opposite Sex once in his first 8 outings. Phillie received 2 Best of Opposite Sex and one Reserve Winner's Bitch in her first 5 shows and Myrna won two BOS and two Reserve Winner's Bitch in her first 4 shows.
It seems that this year has been
consumed by work on the ONE new kennel room.
The puppies ( Paddy, and Phillie) managed to do
significant damage to the prior indestructible puppy
room, tearing up the floor and ripping out the drywall
and the foam insulation behind it. We guess we were
lucky that the 6 inches of concrete stopped them
before they got to the kitchen ! We did wonder why the
Home Depot tool catalog was lying on the floor open to
the jackhammer page. Myrna, the "good puppy", only ate
the drywall in the kitchen.
On the IWCA mailing list much has been made of our penchant
for "chain link decorating." Here are the pictures of
Liam's corner of the living room and the gate between the
kitchen and dining room.

And, of course, no Christmas newsletter would be
complete without a picture of the X-Pen enclosed Christmas
