Sad news from the Hounds of Heaven May 22, 2004

About a month ago Tulia, the dam of the Valentine litter, went to wait at the rainbow bridge.  She lived 8 1/2 wonderful years with us and brought great joy to us.  Tulia had osteosarcoma and did very well on the Fosamax program with no apparent pain until the very end.

Fionna4B (94K)

This last Thursday Fionna, our first wolfhound, went to join her after 10 1/2 years of being and demonstrating what a miracle life is.  Fionna was born with a complete megaesopagus and,  from the time she was diagnosed  at about 1 year old,  at each yearly checkup the vet would tell us to enjoy our time with her because it would not be long.

It was not long enough.

She had many near death experiences in her life, but her heart was strong and she did not give in until she began to lose control of her hind legs and could no longer dance, or even walk.  She then clearly let us know it was time

Both dogs were active in psychotherapy and demonstrated to hundreds of patients the meaning of unconditional love. Patients who were not loved as children and did not trust that any human could like them for themselves. However, invidious motives can not be attributed to a loving Irish Wolfhound, for they can only love the person for who they are.

Both dogs will be sorely missed.

However, Myrna and Liam are stepping into their places in therapy, demonstrating that and Irish Wolfhound will love a person for who they are. Thus life goes on.
